Matthew Palladino American, b. 1985

Matthew Palladino (b. 1985 San Francisco) studied painting at the California College of the Arts. In his work he explores the medium of sculptural relief as contemporary painting. His work employs in its production cutting edge technology, including 3D design and additive manufacturing to create and produce the structure of his reliefs. His three-dimensional forms are treated with a high level of craftsmanship and more traditional hand brushed painting methods to achieve an image/object that is a balanced hybrid of both old and new creative practices. In addition, Palladino holds a special place for his watercolor works that are all hand painted on cold pressed watercolor paper with a mix of watercolor and ink, without the use of masking fluid or tape. His work is collected by the Whitney Museum of American Art among others international collections. He has been reviewed in the New York Times, Art Forum, Juxtapoz and Dazed among others.
