The work of Vassilis H. consists of painting and sculpture with references to typologies and morphological details of architectural movements of the 20th century (Bauhaus, constructivism, de stijl). He creates artwork that bridges the culturally rich modernist past with the vagueness and ambiguity of Today. His work can be read as a conflict between absent memories, mainly the lack of the Modernist culture in Greek artistic and architectural scene - that has contributed to what we call Contemporary Greek culture and aesthetics, and his personal background, memories, images and obsessions. His simple, rough geometric forms express an attempt to find new relations between art and the contemporary sociopolitical situation.
