New Wind Sailing Championship
Olga Migliaressi-Phoca
in collaboration with NEW Hotel
July 3rd - July 31st, 2018

NEW Hotel Athens and Dio Horia Gallery present New Wind Sailing Championship, a project with works by Olga Migliaressi-Phoca presented at the common areas of NEW Hotel in Athens as well as at the gallery’s Mykonian location. New Wind Sailing Championship marks the second artistic collaboration between NEW Hotel and Dio Horia.

NEW Hotell will host an opening reception on Tuesday, July 3rd from 19:00-21:00 with the presence of the artist. New Wind Sailing Championship is a fictitious sailing championship envisioned by Migliaressi - Phoca that is sponsored by a number of imaginary companies like Coca Coma and Lazy. The hotel, the gallery, as well as most of the employees operate as communication sponsors of the event, promoting the championship and the companies that support it.

While you walk around NEW Hotel and Dio Horia gallery, various surprises await and make you wonder: Why is the staff wearing these misspelled logo outfits? Where did they get the championship’s t-shirt? Can I get one? And more importantly, who is winning?

The sponsoring companies are created from a series of Migliaressi - Phoca’s artworks that are constructed from twisted brand logos. Migliaressi - Phoca’s works are full of signs, sometimes they are tiny footprints, other times beautiful traces, or macabre symbolism’s and often they make you laugh out loud. Each one of her works has a narrative and a confrontation, be it the led light-box called IIntendto that uses the ‘Nintendo’ famous logo or the sculpture on the floor, called Tombstone, that carries the shape of the famous ‘Toblerone’ chocolate bar but looks like a grave.

The opening reception will celebrate the inauguration of the sailing championship. All merchandise are available for sale at NEW hotel in Athens, at Dio Horia in Mykonos and online at A limited edition of hoodies were created in collaboration with Universal Consciousness Apparel and are available for sale also at
